Ask the Experts: Modernising Museums
For Museums, the 21st Century challenge is in stimulating and maintaining the interest of a declining stream of visitors. The majority of whom are easily lured away by the fast paced, instant gratification that so many other leisure activities can offer them.
Then there’s that old, lingering stigma of visiting a Museum: the aching legs, the uncomfortable quiet, the boredom.
But that’s all changing. Nowadays Museums have become vibrant, engaging environments where the learning experience has become fun. Not surprisingly, over the past few years’, the rise of new technology within Museums has become increasingly popular, changing both the dynamics of Museums and how visitors experience and interact with exhibitions.
For some this new style and approach of the role of the Museum and how visitors respond can’t come soon enough.
